The Ottawa .NET Community Presents - Developer Night in Canada!

Bringing the Power of the .NET Framework to Your Existing Application

.NET has been with us for a while but there are still lots of applications out there that rely on older technologies to get the job done. Leveraging the investments made in these older applications and moving forward with .NET is no simple task and knowing about the tools that can help you do it can make all the difference. Come join us for this informative session on moving from the old to the new and learn how to take advantage of yesterday's investments in today's world.

Bringing the Power of the .NET Framework to Your Existing Application
For the past few years, you’ve heard a lot about the .NET Framework and the development platform it provides to foster innovation. Meanwhile, you’re still managing applications written with thousands of line of VB 6.0 code and you’d give anything to move to a more modern development environment and platform. In this event, we’ll walk you through real-world tips & tricks that you can use to bring your solution to the .NET Framework. Specifically, you’ll learn how to tackle the issues of integration and migration when dealing with legacy applications. We’ll also feature folks from the Canadian developer community to provide you their experiences and insights.

Win a copy of Visual Studio 2005 (Professional Edition)!
We've got 2 copies of Visual Studio 2005 to give away at this event and we've got an old geek that needs some help figuring out how to use .NET to bring his applications into the 21st century. Answer his 3 questions and we'll put your name into the draw for this very cool development platform….

Visual Studio 2005 The Old Geek's Questions:

1) What's all this stuff I'm hearing about .NET Interoperability and how is it going to help me get on the .NET bandwagon?
2) What the hell are Platform Invocation Services in the .NET Framework all about?
3) What's so special about the "Visual Basic Upgrade Wizard" in Visual Basic 2005?

Send your answers to TheOldGeek@OttawaCommunity.Net and he'll make sure that your name is included in the draw. Note that he wants all 3 questions answered and he has to have them no later than Monday, October 1, 2007 (22:00). Note also that winners must be present at the event to collect their prize.
